Smiles!

I love to make people Smile, maybe that is why I wanted to be a Dental Assistant.  Everyone has a unique smile that makes them who they are.  I believe in uniqueness (if that even is a word?)  Here are some random tips that I live by on how to have a healthier smile:

1. Brush teeth with Baking Soda, it really works!  When I was pregnant the toothpaste would make me throw-up every time, so I started brushing with baking soda because it has no minty taste.  It did the trick! And my teeth even starting looking whiter!

2. Rinse with hydrogen peroxide.  Use equal parts water and hydro.  One cap size of each and swish for 30 seconds.  Rinse after brushing because that is when the pores on your teeth are open and the rinse sinks in those pores and makes your teeth look whiter.

3. Floss every 24 hours!  It is a must!  Plaque builds up every 24 hours, so it is important to floss.  I use the 3D whitening floss by Oral B Glide.  It is my favorite floss!

4.  Brush with 3D whitening toothpaste by Crest to go along with the floss.  Always floss first, then brush.   The reason most people don't floss is because after they brush, their teeth feel clean, therefore they forget to floss or think it is not necessary.  (just a secret, floss first).

5.  Eat White Cheddar cheese, it is healthy for a whiter smile.  It works internally to whiten your teeth.  True Fact.

6.  Drink water that contains fluoride.  Fluoride is proven to reduce cavities by 40%.  A lot of bottle water doesn't have fluoride in it, so we cheat ourselves of that extra fluoride by not drinking tap water.

7.  See a Dentist twice a year!  Remember those cleanings are the best way to reduce build up and cavities.  It actually saves you money in the long run by going twice a year as opposed to putting off going to the Dentist only when you have a tooth ache.  Those toothaches turn into root canals, which usually involves a crown. (not cheap)

8.  Last, but not least:  Remember to SMILE often!

  1. I had no idea teeth had pores, even though it makes sense. And I didn't know that white cheddar cheese can whiten your teeth. Thanks for educating the masses. :)
